Access to safe drinkable water and sanitation is a fundamental human need and a right every Ugandan should enjoy. Access to clean water and sanitation is not only a key factor for improving health but also a fundamental aspect for economic productivity.

The United Nations Assembly passed a resolution on 28 July, 2010, recognizing access to clean water and sanitation as a human right, calling on states and international organisations to provide financial resources, build capacity and transfer technology to scale up provision of safe, clean, accessible and affordable drinking water and sanitation for all.
