This report presents the findings of a desk review on Chronic Poverty and Vulnerability in the Karamoja region. The review, commissioned by Irish Aid Uganda, was conducted by Development Research and Training (DRT), with a view to understanding the state of chronic poverty and vulnerability in Karamoja.

The purpose of the study was to inform Irish Aid’s strategic planning process. Specifically, the study sought to examine the nature and extent of chronic poverty, explore the causes of chronic poverty and vulnerability in Karamoja, analyse the social and poverty impacts of the PEAP policy interventions, identify critical entry points/factors for addressing chronic poverty and vulnerability, as well as propose possible innovative social protection mechanisms/ interventions that could be applied in Karamoja
