Peace building stretches over a wide expanse of activities, ranging from understanding and tackling the roots of conflict, to addressing the different negative effects of the conflict which may include a constellation of initiatives such as resettling victims of forced displacements, psychosocial support, livelihoods revitalisation and developing institutional capacities to ensure non-recurrence of conflict. Consequently, peace building efforts in the case of Gulu district should both seek to address the roots of the conflict (whatever they are agreed to be), and to
respond to the myriads of the effects of the conflict
